FIBERCOMPOSITES
Ahlstrom's FiberComposites division manufactures products for engine
filtration, nonwoven and reinforcement composites markets worldwide.
Ranked among the top 10 nonwoven manufacturers, its engineered fabrics
are used in industrial products as well as everyday consumer products,
e.g. surgical gowns, tea bags and wipes. The division is a leading
supplier of engine filtration products to the transport industries.
Its expertise in reinforcement composites, derived mostly from glassfibre,
serves the energy, marine, sporting goods and transport sectors. The
FiberComposites division employs more than 2,600 people, operates
from 16 sites in Europe, the Americas and Asia, and in 2003 had net
sales of EUR 645 million.
LABELPACK
Ahlstrom's LabelPack division ranks among the world's largest suppliers
of release base papers for the self-adhesive industry and is a leading
manufacturer of specialty papers for flexible packaging, wet-glue
and self-adhesive labeling, all contributing to the identification
and protection of everyday products. The division employs more than
1,500 people and operates seven production units throughout Europe.
In 2003, the division had net sales of approximately EUR 542 million.
SPECIALTIES
Ahlstrom's Specialties division is a leading global supplier of knowledge
intensive technical papers for demanding industrial applications.
The division employs approximately 1100 people and operates 7 production
sites in Finland, France and Germany. In 2003, the technical paper
activities generated net sales of approximately EUR 250 million.
