Downs Surgical is the UK’s premier surgical instrument manufacturer. We have been established for over 120 years and carry a global reputation for quality, excellence and outstanding service.

Through several generations we have been involved in the manufacture of surgical instruments. In the UK this is centralised around a purpose-built facility in Sheffield, England where traditional Sheffield steel manufacturing skills are combined with modern manufacturing processes to produce products of outstanding quality. With a direct sales operation also located in the UK our company is supported by an international network of distribution partners.

From general surgery to ENT surgery, from cardio vascular instrumentation to obstetrics and gynaecology we offer an extensive surgical instrument programme to satisfy the requirements of all surgical interventions.

In terms of implants we manufacture and distribute total hip replacement systems for both trauma and elective indications. Specialist revision hip replacement systems, which provide solutions for complex salvage arthroplasty, form a central part of our orthopaedic programme.

On both a national and global level, these products have demonstrated long-term clinical success and provide the arthroplasty surgeon with successful solutions when faced with complex surgical problems.
