INTRODUCTION
MIR was founded in 1993. MIR designs, develops, manufactures and sells worldwide a range of instruments for the measurement of respiratory function.

HISTORY, PRODUCTS
MIR launched its first product the SPIROBANK in 1994. Spirobank was the first multifunction unit on the world market and is in operation in over 50 countries with lung function tests made on more than 5 million patients. More recently a new version with a graphic display (Spirobank G) was launched, the spirometry report can be viewed directly on the screen of the unit.

SPIRODOC and SPIROTEL were both introduced in 1997. Spirodoc is a simple screening spirometer aimed also at the non-specialist, Spirotel is a personal spirometer for remote lung-function monitoring of a patient at home, at work, anywhere. Spirotel can download stored data via telephone and is a leading product in the fast-growing field of respiratory telemedicine.

The all-new SPIROLAB II diagnostic spirometer was announced at World Lung Health 2000 and will be on the market before the end of the year 2000. Spirolab II is a complete and versatile desktop spirometer with colour display, rapid printer and battery/mains operation, with an internal memory sufficient to store 1500 spirometry tests.

CONGRESSES

Since 1997 MIR participates annually at the Medica exhibition in Germany, the largest of its kind in the world which in 1999 attracted over 120,000 visitors. Since 1996 MIR also participates at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) congress which in 1999 attracted over 12,000 respiratory specialists. MIR also attends national lung congresses worldwide from the UK to USA and from Japan to China.

QUALITY

MIR has always sought independent verification of the quality and safety of its products. Both Spirobank and Spirolab achieved the TUV/GS mark of product safety. MIR obtained the numbered CE marking for all of its products and the approval of its company quality control system to ISO9001/EN46001. MIR also has the FDA product approval and the ATS certification on the Spirobank and Spirobank G.

FUTURE

MIR's objective is to become the world number one company in the field of portable spirometers.
