Since early 2006 PROTECT-Laserschutz GmbH is member of the committee for laser safety eyewear at DIN e.V. Pforzheim, nationally responsible for the standards EN 207, EN 208 as well as EN 12254.

New laser safety eyewear for Dye Laser

Dye Laser are used in industry and in R&D, mainly in the medical field, and especially in. The wavelength is 595nm – visible yellow light. There are many applications for dermatological or aesthetical therapies. At the moment laser safety eyewear normally works with purple absorption mineral glass or plastic glasses. This colour provide a low VLT (visual light transmission – brightness of the filter) and by looking through these purple glasses, veins or nerves can hardly be seen. Eyewear with high-priced rare earth filters may be a solution, but they are not accepted in the market pricewise.

PROTECT-Laserschutz GmbH now has developed a new filter, which combines the advantages of both absorption mineral glasses and rare earth filters. These filters are coloured light brown and the high VLT provides a very a good view and

xcellent colour recognition.

The filters are certificated with high protection levels according to the latest standard DIN EN 207. Of course they also meet the requirements of the standard 93/42/EWG for medical products. All eyewear carries the CE sign.

The new filter is deliverable in our well-known frame styles UNIVERSAL and RETRO and OVERSPEC and GLADIATOR for wearer of prescription glasses.

New generation of laser protection filters with coating

Our new laser protection filters providing very high protection levels and all the same a high visible daylight transmission (VLT) of 60 % in the visible. A multi-layer coating on a light blue-green substrate made from mineralglas guarantees a high laser protection. The coating system is applied on a  thin substrate glass, resulting in an enormous weight reduction. These filters are deliverable with our new frame styles „RETRO“ and „UNIVERSAL“. These light-weight spectacles guarantee a exceptionally high wearing comfort. The frame „UNIVERSAL“ additionally feature temple inclination in height and length.

Besides others, these filters are well appropriate for medical applications, e.g. combining protection against radiation of a Ruby-laser at 694 nm and simultaneously against Alexandrite-Laser at 755 nm, wheras a pilot beam at 633 nm stays visible. This is enabled by a sharp protection edge of the coating design. The protection ratings certified according to EN 207 are as follows:

Also, these filters are well appropriate for industrial purposes and in the field of F&E, e.g. for diode pumped Nd:YAG-Laser, certified according to EN 207 as follows:

750-900 D L6 + IR L8 (OD 10+)
