Switchgear for critical applications
For more than forty years steute has developed and manufactured high-quality switchgear. We are collaborating closely with our customers and introduce our large know-how of application technology into the development.

In 2004 the company was released from the Schmersal group as a spin-off. Since then steute has continued to be managed within the family. The legal and economic process of independence was carried out with the intention of steute concentrating on three business areas in automation technology making especially high demand on switchgear: explosion protection, medical technology and control technology.

For each of these three business fields we offer a comprehensive range characterized by high quality and long operating life. We persistently utilise new technologies, as e.g. wireless data transmission for switchgear, and cooperate closely with partner companies and research institutions as to the development of such technologies. So we are able to offer our customers switchgear which not only differ decisively from those of the competition, but also are really advantageous for the machinery and plant industry as well as for the end users.

Innovative and high quality control devices for doctors’ surgeries and operating theatres
For medical equipment steute manufactures hand- and foot-operated control devices which meet the extremely high requirements of this application concerning availability, safety and ergonomics. The data transmission is carried out through cable or via a special Bluetooth radio module.

Since the personnel in practices and operation theatres has always their hands full, in this field foot-operated control devices are often utilised. In this critical application it is important that the control devices must be adapted optimally - to the environmental conditions, to the ergonomics, to the design of the medical equipment, to the required parameters and to the operator.

Besides a comprehensive standard product range in a modular concept we also manufacture customised foot-operated control devices for medical equipment. A central factor in the development of these control devices is ergonomics: The operator is able to actuate the foot-switches intuitively and even complex and critical motion sequences as e.g. the positioning of an operating bed or the realization of a tissue cut with a high-frequency surgical device can be executed reliably and sensitively.

Furthermore hygiene and safety in a work place are important parameters in the development of components for medical equipment. In this field the wireless foot-switches with Bluetooth technology offer advantages with which steute entered successfully the market. In some instances, e.g. in some surgical applications, even the explosion protection has to be observed.
